FORGOTTEN KINGDOM 2016

12 days to go until the hottest party this Winter! Share with your friends!

https://www.facebook.com/forgottenkingdomfirstflush/videos/1127945327268694/

FORGOTTEN KINGDOM 2016 is ON, like Tron was on electrons, like Terence McKenna was into mushrooms & like Albert Hoffman loved a bike ride.

With only 5 weeks to go here is our first round artist announcement and official ticket release for the 3rd instalment of the June long weekend, winter solstice, cultural mash up & beats bazaar showcasing an eclectic collective of audio visual artists in a beaut bit of bushland.

Again we will be providing 2 dancefloors with a wide variety of the best EDM we can find, played through the two best sound systems around. The industry benchmark for 30 years FUNKTION 1 & the ground breaking multiple driver virtual point source DANLEY SOUND LABS SYNERGY systems are both back in new & improved configurations to provide you with the best possible audio soundscape for enjoying the many and varied artist offerings on display from more than 80 producers & DJ'

They comprise our commitment to sourcing the best and most innovative new producers internationally and locally, and then providing them with the hardware to deliver a noticeably heightened audio clarity experience. This is a founding philosophy at FK and it forms one major component of a multi-faceted audio visual performance production strategy that we will be trying to build on at every one of our events. Delivering a comprehensive and coordinated assault on the senses aimed at leaving us in an extrasensory state of awareness, better equipped for the unreal world after the forest . . . done over, not hung over, we reckon better.

These goals have had us sourcing the visual, projection, stage lighting & laser shows that only the most dedicated to their art industry experts are capable of. We reckon they are a team of outdoor event legends that may be a little bit twisted, (coz ya have to be to make every show more innovative than the last show), but they are also dedicated to wanting to create something special for you guys, simply put they want you to walk off that dance floor feeling like you have just seen & maybe even been the sound and anyone with crazy ideas in their head like that are definitely a bit twisted . . . . . . . . and they can work with the FK16 crew anytime they like, coz that's what we wanna do too ;-D

FRIDAY
10

If you want to be somewhere different on Friday the 10th of June, going AWOL is not a bad start for adventure ;)

North and South come together to bring you a night of madness, in newlyly renovated, reconstructed and fully pimpin' My Aeon. Just like before, but a lot better. Why would you not.

Thick as Thieves have a new take on what it means to access all areas, giving punters the chance to sleep with Kompakt supremo, Michael Mayer and Daniel Bortz (Permanent Vacation) at their In Cahoots show in Melbourne on November 1. In a Melbourne first, Thick as Thieves have teamed up with the two German heavyweights, and Brunswick’s iconic Railway Hotel to lock down 8 hostel rooms which punters can book out on the night…

Imagine having a dance and then heading upstairs for a breather with your mates in your very own personal room, not even 20 meters from the dancefloor! Two of these rooms will also be up for grabs in a very unique competition, with the winning spaces doubling up as a personal green room for two lucky party crews which will be stocked with essential sleepover and morning after supplies - as well as special appearances from Mayer and Bortz (think of it as your very own personal backstage area).

To enter is very simple: You’ll need a Tinder account with the new ‘Super Like’ ability to unlock the chance to win a hostel room for yourself; Thick as Thieves fans will then need to keep an eye out for Mayer and Bortz’s Tinder profiles when they arrive in Australia, find them, Super Like them, and if they match, the two punters with the best pick up line could score themselves the chance to sleepover on November 1.

“We’re all about getting people closer to the music than ever before, and sleeping with them is probably as close as you can get, right?”, says Thick as Thieves Director Mike Toner. “This is just the start of some pretty amazing opportunities for our fans and artists to connect over summer thanks to The Railway Hotel & In Cahoots.”

Tickets and rooms for the gig are on sale now, and fans are encouraged to keep an eye out for these two Tinder profiles to win this next level access for them and their crew.

After a successful second installment of Trust on Easter Sunday, we're beyond excited to be taking over New Guernica again this Queen’s Birthday eve. We have once again been working around the clock to deliver a huge lineup boasting some of Melbourne and Australia’s most respected DJs and producers.

As our first headliner we are recruiting one of our favorite Australian acts from across the border. Gabby, hailing from Sydney, is quickly becoming recognised as one of Australia’s most in demand DJs who has been in our sights since watching her destroy Melbourne dance floors on her last visit in 2014. Gabby is a respected dancer, vocalist and producer, though it’s her skills behind the decks and refined taste in music that have us excited. As a DJ, she's the lady of choice for techno and house for a number of the best club nights around Australia, being represented by the esteemed Finely Tuned agency, and holding residencies at both SPICE and S.A.S.H. in Sydney. Having opened and closed for some of the biggest international names in the business, we can’t wait to see what she’s capable of when slotted between some of Melbourne’s finest on Queen’s Birthday eve!

Our interstate headliner will be in fine company among two of our most beloved Melbourne DJs; Boogs and Katie Drover. Boogs is one of the true leaders of Melbourne’s underground club scene. Supremely talented, original and never reliant on trends, fads or visiting international DJs, his 7am residency at Revolver Sundays is one of the most celebrated, unique and infamous gigs in the country. Always visionary and ahead of the pack with the freshest sounds, Boogs' reign over the Melbourne club scene spans almost 15 years and his influence stretches across Australia and beyond. Sharing headline duties will be Katie Drover, a Melbourne DJ who has played almost anywhere you can imagine in a city known for its long-standing commitment to electronic music: from Tramp, in the basement of a strip club underneath the notorious King Street, to closing sets on an enormous stage at internationally acclaimed Falls Festival on New Year’s Eve, to her regular appearances at infamous Melbourne nightspots such as Revolver and OneSixOne, at Sydney’s Mardi Gras, and at countless other music festivals such as Summadayze and Future Music Festival, not to mention in the back of a ute for the opening of the AFL Grand Final, the launch of the Honda Jazz, and as an ambassador for Pioneer Pro DJ.

As always our headliners will be supported by an array of Melbourne’s most respected DJs and we will once again welcome the Pelican Villa crew as they transform the outhouse with lush décor and sounds that keep punters coming back to their techno oasis party after party!

Quality Project would like to introduce you to our latest series of gatherings.

DOWNTOWN OASIS.

A new and revolutionary concept designed to take you away from all the stink, pollution, traffic and grind of inner city living.

We will be hand selecting some new and undiscovered outdoor areas for each of the six parties we have planned.
Each space will then be turned into a lush, green, tropical environment in which all your rat race tension will be lifted by a solid roster of djs as they lovingly soothe you with a specifically voodoo/tribal tech sound.

From vibrant decor, to our jungle-esque music policy, to the selection of some of Melbourne's finest outdoor spaces, everything will be thought of and obsessed over by the Quality Project camp as we ensure we deliver you exactly what we said we would, a DOWNTOWN OASIS.

This friday, Dirtybird legend Worthy join us in the front room with his distinguish booty-clapping house sounds.

Dirtybird is a big influence on our sound at mi casa so its with great excitement that we await for Worth's booty-clapping house sounds to rip through the speakers.

WORTHY

When it comes down to all the hype, his name says it all. He is Worthy. With an in-depth knowledge of production, mixing, and performance, Worthy has the insight to play for his audience, cultivating intense positive energy on the dance floor. From salty aired islands to dark club basements, over the past 10 years, Worthy has paid reverence to the traditional form of classic house while tripping off the mark and sinking into the euphoric less-charted territories of booty-clapping bass. As Carl Cox said, "The Worthy sound has always been powerful, rocking, funky, bass-driven music at its best, and for me this is the new wave in house music." He establishes an energetic dance floor camaraderie that makes even the most skeptic hater’s booty shake.

Growing up in Washington DC, Worthy was inspired by the early American rave scene. Upon moving to New York in the late 90’s, he was exposed to artists like LTJ Bukem and Stacey Pullen whose music inspired him to play records across multiple genres, from techno and breaks to hiphop and drum n’ bass. In 2001 he swapped coastlines, moving to San Francisco to pursue his music career. There he teamed up with Claude Von Stroke and Justin and Christian Martin, becoming one of the four founding fathers of the Dirtybird party, Worthy’s breakout track, Irst Te, released on the Dirtybird label in 2007, quickly established his notoriety as a producer. With other bangers like Shy Look, Tric Trac (co-produced with Eats Everything) and the recently release track, Dip, Worthy has been rocking the “Dirtybird” sound for nearly a decade now.

Early Spring 2015, Worthy will release a two part remix album of Disbehave with artists including Thugfucker, Stanton Warriors, Yolanda be Cool, Matt Tolfrey, and a slough of other amazing producers. He is also back with another Dirtybird release called "So Delicious", among other tracks that will be due out later this year.

Danny Howells has a special relationship with Melbourne. A regular in this fine town for many years his gigs are often spoken in hushed tones, with a shake of the head and a smile on the face, “were you there in ’08 when he played on Cup Day?” followed by a collective laugh at the memory of brilliance. The same could be said for last year’s show on the Victoria Star. The fourth day over 40deg in Melbourne a cool change swept through the docklands only moments before departure, which set the scene for a memorable sunset with the sweet and sexy sounds of Howells creating a rapture on the dance floor. Many have said it was the best show he’s ever played in Melbourne.
.
This sets the scene for another special Darkbeat event featuring our beloved Danny Howells, this time on Valentines Day eve at New Guernica. Supported by Svjet Lana (Crossfrontier Audio / Natura Sonoris), an ex-pat who has been blowing up in a big way in Berlin for the last few years, as well as Melbourne’s finest you are guaranteed to experience nothing but the finest in electronic music.

***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ****

DANNY HOWELLS (UK)
[DIG DEEPER]

Danny Howells doesn’t fit into the standard dance music paradigms. With a reputation as “the DJs’ DJ”, he has remained stoic in the face of ever-shifting trends and fads in dance music since he broke through into the global house music consciousness in the late-’90s. He doesn’t churn out productions to “remain relevant”, instead only releasing music as and when inspiration strikes.

He’s not a publicity hungry, social media devotee. He’s not someone who feels the need to reinvent himself with new monikers or side projects, nor someone who aggressively pursues a maxxed-out DJ’ing schedule. Quietly ploughing his way through the house music continuum, he has remained one of the world’s most captivating selectors precisely because of these organic means. That and his impeccable selection, distinctive style and silky mixing, of course.

***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ****

SVJET LANA (GER)
[CROSSFRONTIER AUDIO / NATURA SONORIS]

Svjet Lana was not born a musical prodigy, nor were her parents music aficionados. Her childhood was a regular one, with toys and sports and the occasional stint trying to master an instrument – with only moderate success.

Despite her flirtation with music being mostly playful, her love for the dance-floor and the club sound grew. But unlike most, who started as early as their teens, it wasn’t until she was a fully functioning adult that she started to experiment with making her own music.

Much to her surprise, her deep, melodic sound started to catch on and her tunes were released on such labels as Crossfrontier Audio, Natura Sonoris and System Recordings.
More surprisingly, events and clubs like Watergate (Berlin), Ritter Butzke (Berlin) and OFFSonar (Spain) started to book her for her groove-filled sets, even though they could have probably booked someone with a much more interesting story.
