Attic & At The Flinders presents..

Nachtbraker /

📅 Saturday 2nd February
🕒 9pm - 3.30am

Nachtbraker, keeping you comfortably awake. Based in Amsterdam. Residency at ZeeZout (NL), Red Light Radio (NL) and Rinse FM (UK).

After receiving widespread recognition for books like “How Does He Do It?” and “Glorious Misunderstandings”, Maurits Verwoerd decided to start a career as a music producer. Though few doubted his skills as an artist, most of Maurits’ neighbours thought differently about his compositions, forcing him to start producing music in the underground dungeons of Amsterdam.

Coming out occasionally, but only at night, slowly made him well known among friends and enemies as Nachtbraker (Dutch for night hawk).

Nachtbraker’s exposure to a wide range of genres are clearly audible in his music, ranging from ecstatic slow grooves and unconventional dub tracks to straight-up 4/4 house.

Most recently he released his debut album on his own Quartet Series imprint. Supported by Jeremy Underground, Detroit Swindle, Axel Boman, Joris Voorn, Kornel Kovacs and Akufen, just to name a few. His eccentric and unorthodox piece of work got picked up by i.a. Mixmag, Resident Advisor, Groove Mag, DJ Mag Spain, Italy and UK.

In the slipstream of his album Mixmag interviewed him for their Impact Mix feature while DJ Mag Spain dedicated five pages to an in-depth interview.

Holding residencies on Red Light Radio and Rinse FM whilst also delivering podcasts for Feel My Bicep and DGTL, the Quartet Series label boss continues to receive widespread recognition.

Building up his career and profile carefully in the past few years we see Nachtbraker mature into a multifaceted and intriguing character in the world of music. It’s unquestionable that Nachtbraker will keep a lot of people comfortably awake for the coming years…

From a classical music education—playing both, saxophone and clarinet— Bellaire first tried his hand at hip-hop production, before an inevitable shift to house music.

Bellaire's connection with house music was immediate, enabling him to combine, apply and exercise his own personal touch, with the addition of his wind instruments, along with carefully-selected hip-hop samples from his earlier production expeditions.

Bellaire's first E.P., 'Paris City Jazz'—released on his own label, AOC Records—sold 1,500 physical copies, thus enhancing the reputation of the young up-and-coming French artist. Pairing his repertoire of quality underground house releases—some of which were heavily supported by Detroit Swindle and earned him a feature in Trax Magazine!—is a series of successful gigs right throughout France and also aboard: London, Liverpool, Berlin, Hamburg, Brussels, Antwerpen, to name a few!

Bellaire unveiled a newer, fresher aspect of his producer qualities in his second E.P., 'Framework E.P.', delivering five dance floor killers, while retaining his signature jazzy touch, complete with synths and piano elements for good measure! Notably, he was also featured on the long-awaited entry into the release game, 'The Four J's', by renowned tastemakers, Houseum Records, alongside Jesse Bru.

Don't miss the opportunity to see this raw talent in action!
